A few needles, several ounces of blood and urine, and a couple of forged initials later, and I’ve been medically cleared. A HUGE relief to have this done. (I know I know, I’m a healthy guy, but it’s all about dotting your Is and crossing your Ts – apparently only 15% submit correctly the first time.) As you can see, it’s been a while since my last post. Waiting is a big part of the PC application game. Yesterday disillusionment, today optimism.
I learned a few things in the process. While I’m overall really healthy, my blood test revealed that I’m a little anemic. Sucks, but at least I know why my runs have felt so awful. I immediately started taking iron supplements and eating fish. That first little mahi mahi made me feel really guilty, but overall it feels great to be eating some meat again, and my runs feel much better now.
At this point it feels like I’m coming in to the home stretch of the process. I’ll be given a placement officer, who will help determine a suitable country. Can’t wait to find out.

Why your runs have felt so awful? Really Reid? TMI
